A meeting of SPIC MACAY (Society for the Promotion of Indian Classical Music and Culture Amongst Youth) was organised at the school, presided over by Siddharth Banerjee. The objective of the meeting was to foster a deeper appreciation of Indian classical music, dance, folk music, yoga, meditation, crafts, and the intangible aspects of Indian cultural heritage among the youth. During the meeting Principal Vidhupriya Chakravarty was tasked with the responsibility of raising awareness among Shimla’s youth and school students about SPIC MACAY’s activities. This responsibility was entrusted to her by SPIC MACAY founder Padma Shri Dr Kiran Seth during a meeting held at Kalibari, Shimla. The SPIC MACAY meetings at St Thomas School will be held every Saturday from 4 pm to 5 pm to discuss and organise future activities effectively. SPIC MACAY’s founder and members also met with Governor of Himachal Pradesh Shiv Pratap Shukla and Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu to discuss the organisation’s efforts.
