St Xavier’s Senior Secondary School, Sector 44, Chandigarh

The school held its Annual Athletic Meet for classes III. The chief guest was Dr JP Singh, Deputy Director, Higher Education, Punjab-cum-Principal, Nawas Jassa Singh Ahluwalia Government College, Kapurthala. Maninder Singh, former school student and chief selector of the District Cricket, Mohali, was the guest of honour. Inspector Satinder Kumar, SHO, Sector 34 Police Station, was also a guest of honour. Principal Dr Ivorine Castellas, along with other management members, welcomed and escorted the guest to the venue. The event commenced with the ceremonial march past, led by the Student Council and House Captains. The spectators were enthralled by the various track events like balancing cones race, pyramid race, stepping stones and rabbit race, girl’s matka race, etc. A variety of class relay events with mass participation drew much enthusiasm among the students, who dribbled balls and cleared obstacles for prizes. The parents also participated in matka race and 100 m flat race much to the delight of the students and had a thunderous applause from the audience. The winners were awarded by the chief guest and guest of honour. The event concluded with a magnificent dance drill followed by singing of the national anthem.
