St Xavier’s Senior Secondary School, Sector 44, Chandigarh

The school held its Annual Athletic Meet for classes VI and VII. The chief guest was Angad Bir Singh, a hockey star. Maninder Singh Manku, Regional Head, Institutional Banking, ICICI Bank Limited, and district and state-level player of handball was also present as guest of honour. Others present on the occasion included Chairman I Williams and Principal Dr Ivorine Castella. Additional Principals Gavin Bond and Chandan S Patwal, Assistant Directors Naresh Handa and N Gandhi and Senior Vice-Principal D Pant. The event commenced with the ceremonial march past, led by the Student Council and eight House Captains along with the house members.

The spectators were enthralled by the various track events like 80 m race for both girls and boys, girls’ relay race, 80 m sprint and mixed relay, obstacle race, boys and girls’ skipping relay. A presentation, ‘Yoga & Zumba Drill’ captivated the audience. The school choir sang beautiful songs. Parents also also took part in “three-legged race” enthusiastically attracting a thunderous applause. The chief guest and guest of honour congratulated the winners and gave away the prizes. Principal Dr Ivorine Castellas thanked the parents and congratulated the sports department for the success of the Annual Sports Meet. The programme was concluded with singing of the national anthem.
