Covid-19 may have shut schools but it hasn’t deterred the spirit of teaching and learning. To promote book reading among students, a ‘DEAR Time’ (Drop Everything And Read) activity was conducted online by DEAR Club. The theme was ‘my book, my friend’, wherein 2,800 students from classes II to VIII participated in it making the event a great success.

Principal Mamta Goel

A three-day ‘need-based’ training programme was held under the aegis of heads of DAV CMC Poonam Suri, Director Nisha Peshin and Principal Mamta Goel. Students from classes III to X, along with teachers took part in the workshop. The programme highlighted the need of integrating strategies and techniques with subjects like English, Hindi, maths, science and social science from primary to secondary level for better results. Principal Mamta Goel initiated the session with her workshop on ‘21st century teaching skills’ and stressed the varied aspects of teaching-learning programme under the advanced techniques and methodology.

The school organised an online calligraphy competition for classes II to V. Children participated enthusiastically. Anmol of Class V stood first in English calligraphy, whereas Rishi Chauhan of Class V and Shejal of Class IV stood second and third, respectively. In Hindi calligraphy, Riya Rana, Samaira and Aarush from Class II got the first, second and third positions, respectively. Director Tania Jamwal and Principal Sushil Awasthi congratulated the winners and distributed certificates. Principal Sushil Awasthi said practising handwriting was an important exercise for children as it enabled them to develop fine motor skills and confidence.

Class XII student Shreya Chawla was chosen the Teen Ambassador of Global Peace Institute.

Shreya Chawla of Class XII bagged the title of ‘best speaker award’ at Global Teens Peace Summit organised by Global Peace Institute, London. A total of 32 teen speakers from England, Georgia, Maldives, Nigeria, India and other countries participated in the event. Shreya was one among the top 10 best speakers and was also chosen the Teen Ambassador of Global Peace Institute. She is also an awardee of ‘Earth Day Network Rising Star of April 2020’ and ‘World Children Peace Prize 2019’. She introduced the concept of Peace Quotient (PQ) and proposed ways for teens to work together during the summit. Director Grewal appreciated the enthusiasm of Shreya Chawla and acknowledged her efforts. He also wished her a bright future ahead.


Sanskriti KMV School, Jalandhar

A webinar ‘FLY- First Love yourself’ was organised which was addressed by Dr Shruti Shukla, State Coordinator, Guidance Bureau and Counselling, SCERT, Education Department. She focused on the key aspects of self-consideration, appreciation and expression. In the context of high pressure and expectations from teachers, they have to balance their responsibilities to stand right and exemplary for the institution, society as well as family. Dr Shukla interacted with the staff members and shared with them the key to be hearty, healthy and harnessing. Principal Rachna Monga thanked the speaker for her efforts and said stress-free individuals can contribute better to the society.
