Students buckle up for first-term board exams

 The CBSE has declared date-sheet for board classes according to which the minor subject exams will start from November while the tests for main subjects will start from December 1. The students, who, till date were taking these first-term of board exams lightly, have suddenly become worried and serious as just about a month is left to prove their mettle.

Parents, teachers had expressed concern over the non-serious attitude of students towards these board exams. “Since this would be the first batch to take board exam twice, the students are taking the first-term exams casually. Now that the CBSE has declared the date-sheet, the students have suddenly pushed the panic button. We have been telling them to start studying seriously but their approach was too casual earlier. They need to score well in these tests to get good percentage in the finals. Now they are coming up with a lot of queries. Still a month is there to study religiously and they can score well”, said Harmit Kaur Waraich, Principal Nankana Sahib Public School here.

 A worried parent said that her son studying in Plus II was busy attending one party or another and was not taking the exams seriously "but ever since the date-sheet had come, he looks worried and confused", she added. “Now this is the time, when as parents we have to push them. If we continue to complain that they have not studied, they will be under tremendous pressure. We need to support them in best possible manner”, said the parent.

 Meanwhile, the students are divided over board exams being held twice this time. Some say the burden will be less, while others believe that throughout the year, they will not have any time to relax. After the pandemic, CBSE had decided to hold exams this year in two terms- November-December and March-April.
