Students engage in activities, mark World Environment Day

The school organised various online activities to mark World Environment Day. Students showed their concern towards the environment under a series of activities. Tiny tots made useful items out of waste, made sketches of trees, forests and bird houses. Pupils also planted saplings around their houses. They collected information on various trees and plants and shared their views with their friends and teachers. Students expressed their love for Nature and pledged to protect it by planting more trees. Principal Amita Dhaka appreciated the efforts of the students and encouraged them to adopt eco-friendly measures to conserve various life forms on the Earth.

Environment plays an integral role in life on the Earth. The school marked World Environment Day, wherein Principal Anjali Singh planted mango and lemon saplings on the premises.

Indian Public School, Ambala

World Environment Day was marked with the aim to spread awareness about environment conservation. Pupils made posters, recited poems and delivered speeches. They posted pictures on social media to inspire everyone to plant trees and pledged to conserve Nature. Students were exhorted to take good care of gardens at their homes and plant more saplings. Director Vasudha Jain said the purpose of celebrating the day was to create a healthy relationship between the students and the Earth. All countries, communities and generations can enjoy a safer and productive environment only if they decide to join their hands to save the planet.

DAV School, Alampur

The school marked World Environment Day. Different themes were given to students. Pupils from LKG to Class II recited poems and made drawings on ‘save environment’, while students from classes III to VII planted saplings and made posters on issues related to environment. Pupils from classes VIII to XII participated in chart making, slogan writing and delivered speeches. The purpose was to urge students to make public aware about the environmental issues. Principal Bikram Singh asked them to encourage people and communities to become an active agent in developing environmental safety measures. He appreciated the efforts of the teachers and the students.

KBDAV-7 Sr Sec School, Chandigarh

To mark the World Environment Day, more than 1,100 students participated in various online events such as face painting, poster making, poetry recitation, speech contests and plays. Students of classes VIII to X participated in an online quiz organised by Environmental Information System, Chandigarh. Additional District and Sessions Judge Mahavir Singh Ahlawat conducted an interactive session for pupils of Class XI and teachers. The speaker talked about topics ranging from ‘Constitution’ and ‘duties towards the environment’. He added that the COVID-19 has proven to be a blessing in disguise as it brought out the real beauty of the Nature. He also shared Helpline numbers in case any legal aid was required and made the audience aware about the working of State Legal Services Authority. Issues of drug abuse and violence were also addressed. In another interactive session, Tanveer Kaur and Nishtha Kalia of Class XI recited poems on environment. Anushka Gautam and Nishtha Kalia raised queries regarding ‘should lockdown be made a regular practice for improving the environment?’

Sanskriti KMV School, Jalandhar

World Environment Day was marked through various activities. Students engaged feeding birds and tending to home garden. They were urged to learn segregation of home waste, right method of disposing and making compost pits. Pupils made notebooks out of old ones and many other craft items. Parents shared the videos and photographs of their children with the teachers. Principal Rachna Monga said positive ideas and actions were a strong step towards conservation of the Earth.
