“We celebrated the World Environment Day recently. The motive behind the celebrations was to sensitise the young Cambrianites about the need to Protect, Preserve and Safeguard the environment. To inculcate environmental values, an eco-friendly planner was chalked out for the Green Day. But this is not just for one day. The campaign needs to be continued”, said the Principal.

Their activities include hugging and thanking the trees for their protection, cool breeze, shade, providing oxygen. The young graders of Class I and II will also set-up a bird house, using waste products to nourish and nurture varied life forms. They will also be making a “seed tray” to feed the birds. The Students from Class VI to VIII are encouraged to create compost bins, by collecting vegetable waste, leaves, sawdust etc.

Meanwhile, the World World Environment Day was celebrated virtually by HVM Convent Senior Secondary School, Karamsar Colony. The students were sensitised about current environmental issues and global challenges at the grass root level by giving activities like planting the saplings, watering the plants, poster making and best out of waste. Students participated in this online activity with immense interest and motivation. Principal, Sunita Kumari congratulated the students and encouraged them to take a pledge to plant at least one tree on their birthday. She also said that we must now fundamentally rethink our relationship with the living world with natural ecosystems and their biodiversity and work towards its restoration.

World Environment Day was celebrated virtually by DAV Public School, BRS Nagar also. The purpose of the celebration was to spread awareness about the need to protect the environment and the ways to do it. Rohit Mehra, IRS, known as “Green Man of India’, who is working on different projects in different parts of the country, was the keynote speaker on this occasion. He is working on projects to make cities greener. His major concerns are — to ensure clean air and plastic free environment as plastic waste is the greatest environmental hazard and he has used the plastic bottles to add to the dwindling green cover in the concrete jungles of today and his projects have motivated others to follow the suit. In his address to the students, parents and teachers Mehra highlighted the plight of  environment caused by pollution, the need for conservation and protection not only for ourselves but also for the future generations and protection of biodiversity.
