'Swachhta' activities conducted to celebrate Children’s Day

Under the guidance of school in-charge Bhupinder Kaur and SMC members, a series of swachhta activities was conducted during the Children’s Day celebration in GMMS, MHC, Manimajra. The programme was aimed to create awareness among the students about cleanliness, hygiene, environmental responsibility and civic sense among the students. Students actively participated in the cleanliness drive and fun sports events, such as the lemon race, sack race and running activities. The swachhata theme was also emphasised during sports day to promote litter-free playgrounds. Under the Eco Club activity, SMC members inaugurated a compost pit on the school premises to reduce waste and teach the students the importance of compost pit. Selected students were designated as swachhata sewaks and certificates were awarded in recognition of their efforts. The activities were showcased as directed by the Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh, on the ministry portal under the ‘Swachh School of Chandigarh’ initiative.
