In the memory of the founder Principal Late Shanta H Singh, the school organises “Big Aunty Math Quest” in the month of December every year to assess mathematical skills of students. The result is declared on the Founder’s Day to mark her birthday. This year around 426 students from various schools of the Tricity participated. The exam was conducted in two categories — junior (classes VI–VIII) and senior (classes IX–X). The exam is based on the syllabus of Class X (CBSE) for senior category and on the critical thinking, mathematical aptitude and real-life based problems in the junior category. In the junior category, Sparsh Singhal from Saupin’s School, Chandigarh, bagged the first prize and was awarded Rs 5,000. In the senior category, Akshara Gaur from Sri Guru Harkrishan Model School, Sector 38-D, Chandigarh, stood first and was a warded a cash prize of Rs 7,500.
