The Society in Pandemic

The Society in Pandemic

Armaan Aggarwal, Class X, Ashiana Public School, Chd

With the deadly outbreak of Covid-19, the world is witnessing the biggest challenge it has ever faced. The entire planet lies in crisis facing urgent pressure to ensure the safety and security of people. In these tough times, mankind has once again displayed that they still are a united race cutting across all superficial differences.

Amidst this global emergency, there are many incidents that fill one's heart with the compassion, love and care. The sacrifice of the doctors, the selflessness of the policemen and government officials, 1and the kindness of the common man in helping the needy is commendable.

In these times, it is wonderful to find people going to all lengths to help each other. People of all strata of society are coming forward to pitch in with food supplies and other essentials. It is overwhelming to find people giving each other hope and filling them with optimism.

When we give it a thought, we realise how the world is full of benevolent people who don't hesitate to risk their lives for the community. It gives us a chance to reflect on our social values and evaluate ourselves as a person. This is because only in these trying times do we get to know the real character of the people. The lockdown has once again given us a chance to spend some quality time with our near and dear ones. Thus, if we give it a sincere thought we can actually learn a lot from these simple changes.

All we can give each other is hope that we will emerge victorious in this fight and let us remind ourselves that if we take the tough times of life in stride we will be able to enjoy the happy moments as well.

TREES

Aarush Singhal, Class VII, Saupin’s School, Chandigarh

Trees are the Nature's incredible gift,

They are important treasure,

They give the world and mankind a betterment lift,

And a lot of strength that cannot be measured.

They are very useful and give us many things,

Like food, oxygen, medicine and clothes.

They give shelter to

creatures with wings,

That is birds, bats and insects like moths.

We should not cut them,

But grow them more & more.

They are as valuable as a king's crown's gem,

And without them, our Earth will be sore!

YES, IT WAS ME!

Japman Kaur Aneja, Class IX, Carmel Convent School, Chandigarh

Yes, it was me, I survived that time,

When walking out of your house was considered a crime.

When to live one more day, was the sole desire,

When coronavirus spread like wildfire.

Yes, it was me, I saw that day,

When the virus took humans as prey,

When a coughing person was seen as a vampire,

When the world went totally haywire.

Yes, it was me, I experienced that pain,

When we thought it was finished, but it came again,

When we sat with the fear that we might die,

When people fell sick and no one asked why.

Yes it was me, I saw that earth,

When people finally realised that life has that much worth,

When we believed that the world is going to end,

When staying alone, was the only way to defend.

Yes, it was me, I lived through that day,

When all people did was wish and pray,

That someday, someday pretty soon,

Someone would come with a happy tune,

And bring an end to this grief,

So everyone could breathe a sigh of relief,

O that saviour, soon may you come,

And change this world to a heaven from a slum,

So that we live freely and without any fear,

So that the future generations can hear,

And we can tell them with pride and prime,

Yes, it was me child, I lived through that time.

Gleams of Sunshine

Pavani Thakur, Class VII, Kundan International School, Chandigarh

One day I was at home,

Sitting calm and talking on phone.

I was happy and gay,

Because my exams were over,

And there was more time to play.

Suddenly, there was a flash of news of COVID-19.

I thought it was just a virus,

And everything will be fine.

But, the very next moment, there was hue and cry.

The world was shutting

And people were going to die.

To face this pandemic,

We need to calm down,

Follow the instructions and,

Stay safe and sound.

As they say, every cloud has a silver lining,

Now, air is pure and the Nature is reviving.

Life is strange with twists and turns,

But we will conquer it, just taking time.

Remember after a black day,

There is always a gleam of sunshine.
