The second day of The Tribune Trust Sports Festival featured exhilarating semi-final matches, setting the field for the grand finale. In handball, The Tribune School defeated St Xavier’s by 11 goals in semi-final-1 match and DAV Senior Secondary School, Lahore, Sector 8-C, Chandigarh, defeated Guru Nanak Khalsa Senior Secondary School, Sector-30, Chandigarh, in semi-final 2 match by 10 goals. In netball, GMSSS-20D defeated the girls of Sacred Heart Senior Secondary School, Sector 26, Chandigarh, by 13 goals in semi-final-1 match and The Tribune School defeated the girls of GMSSS-19 by 14 goals.

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.

The Tribune, the largest selling English daily in North India, publishes news and views without any bias or prejudice of any kind. Restraint and moderation, rather than agitational language and partisanship, are the hallmarks of the newspaper. It is an independent newspaper in the real sense of the term.

The Tribune has two sister publications, Punjabi Tribune (in Punjabi) and Dainik Tribune (in Hindi).
