Have you wondered how cool it would be to have the power of speed like that of the super-hero Flash to solving Math problems? All you need is an attentive mind and some easy techniques which can help you calculate faster. Learning techniques on how to do math quickly can help you develop greater confidence in math, improve math skills and excel in advanced courses!
In Math there is only one correct answer but there can be many different techniques to arrive at it. The traditional mathematical techniques in problem-solving can sometimes be time-consuming or complex or simply boring.
One such technique which has been tried and tested for generations is Vedic Math. This technique can be rather helpful for your arithmetical development and can come very handy as one moves up the academic ladder.
Let us now pick up three simple tips and tricks which will help you calculate faster.
Tricks for Addition
Step 1 Add the numbers which are the multiples of 10s
Step 2 Add/Subtract the deficiency of numbers
Example: Finding a sum of 999 and 128.
Step 1: Add 1000 + 130 = 1130
Step 2: Subtract (1+2) i.e., the deficiency from 1130 = 1127
Find the Square Value
Step 1 Choose a base that is closer to the original number
Step2 Find the difference between the number from the base
Step 3 Add the difference with the original number given
Step 4 Multiply the result with the base
Step 5 Add the product of the square (of the difference) with the result of the above step mentioned
For Example: Finding the Square of 98
Step 1: choosing 100 as base
Step 2: 98-100= -2
Step 3: 98+(-2) = 97
Step 4: 100* 97= 9700
Step 5:
9700+ square of (-2) = 9604
Trick for Multiplication of Any 3-digit Numbers
Find answer to 306 x 308
Step 1: Subtract the unit place digit from the actual number given
From 308-8=300
From 306-6=300
Step 2: Select any 1st or 2nd number to add the unit digit of the number 308+6=314
Step 3: Multiply the product you got in the 2nd step with step 1
314×300 = 94200
Step 4: Now add the unit digits of both the number
8×6=48
Step 5: Add 94200 and 48
94200 + 48 = 94248
Final answer 306 x 308 =94248
Before you share these tips with your friends, remember calculating faster is of no use if we fail to understand the rationale behind the problem-solving. These tricks can do wonders only if you put them to regular practice.
