Una, January 6

The Una district administration has been awarded silver medal in the SKOCH Order of Merit Awards for its Super-50 scheme. The scheme was aimed at providing coaching to meritorious students of government schools for NEET and JEE entrance examinations.

SKOCH Group is a think tank dealing with socio-economic issues with a focus on inclusive growth since 1997. The group aims to bring an Indian 'felt-needs' context to strategies and engages with fortune-500 companies, state-owned enterprises, government to SMEs and community-based organisations. The group has instituted India’s highest independent civilian honours in the field of governance, finance, technology, economics and social sector.

Deputy Commissioner Raghav Sharma today participated in the virtual meeting of SKOCH. In a press release issued here, later he said the Super-50 scheme had been launched in 2019 and each year as many as 50 meritorious students were selected by the district administration for a free two-year coaching.

Raghav Sharma said the services of experienced faculty are ensured and the cost of training is borne by the Una Zila Parishad and Chintpurni Temple Trust. He said the first batch of trainees had taken the entrance examinations recently and five students from the batch had got selected in various NITs of the country, while some more are undergoing counseling.

The DC congratulated the Super-50 faculty. He said children from rural backgrounds do not lack in talent, but need better coaching opportunities to make it to professional courses.
