Q1. How have you incorporated innovative teaching methodology in your classrooms?
The pandemic has significantly disrupted the education sector. Live teaching has transformed to a new pedagogical approach for active learning through virtual classrooms. There is a paradigm shift in the education system with the accelerated adoption of digital technology. We have been endorsing teaching learning methodologies with several apps, online study material, e-library sources, video lessons, PowerPoint presentations to ensure interactive e-learning, online EHV sessions and activities to impart value education which plays a pivotal role in the school curriculum.
Q2. What are your plans for the academic session 2020-21 post the pandemic situation?
To reflect deeply on what we have experienced during pandemic is going to be a great challenge. It will be a reminder to us that academic excellence without incorporation of human as well as environmental excellence won’t suffice for survival. Hence, our focus will be on informed decision making, creative problem solving and adaptability of the skills required in this unpredictable world. It is imperative to prepare the students for life.
Q3. Any special handholding initiative for underachievers?
We have a special programme named EOHO wherein an underachiever is assisted and guided by top scorer student to improve in academics and behaviour. This practice provides children to explore new opportunities to harness responsibility and confidence through their inter-personal relationship. At the end of the session, the mentors are awarded with certificates for their decent work. This system is fruitful for both the mentor and the mentee. Besides, free parenting sessions in order to equip parents with smart tips to tackle the challenge of parenting is a great success.
Q4 . Education is a holistic process. How do you ensure that in your school?
We, at DC Model, lay emphasis on intellectual and emotional growth in which every student discovers and realises his/her full potential and hence the highest academic standards are achieved. Our activities focus on developing confident, visionary and effectual individuals who never kneel down in adverse circumstances. Our students participate in each field with zeal which ignites in them the rational thinking which enables them to take firm decisions in life.
Q5. What are the vocational education classes or skill-building opportunities given to your students?
Vocational training exposes children to the real world of work. Our school follows NSQF guidelines to help children develop various professional skills and courses like marketing and sales, cards makings, mehndi, rangoli designs and stencils, decoration material, photoshop classes, composting, gardening and culinary skills. The school has also arranged classes to develop creative writing and oratory skills through EHV programme in which students learn art of story-telling, online blogging, creative writing, vocal and instrumental music which give them a vast exposure.
Q6. What is the teacher-taught ratio in your school?
The teacher-taught ratio is significant in yielding a constructive teaching learning process in a class. The school targets the ration not more than 32:1 in a class. The students are encouraged to share their opinions, views, answers and ask questions, which also benefit their peers. Students learn faster and perform better. More of individual attention, increased participation and better communication in such a congenial environment enhances students’ learning and confidence. Teachers have more opportunities to observe and access the class as a whole.
Q7. What is your vision for your students?
We are fully dedicated to imparting quality education and hence are constantly committed in our pursuit for excellence and perfection in our objective to make our students emotionally stable, intellectually vibrant, spiritually enlightened and socially committed. We believe in unconventional experiential learning which helps students develop their life skills and to empower their minds so that they are able to choose career opportunities wisely. With a comprehensive and pragmatic approach, we also focus on imbibing moral values to integrate ‘Head, Heart and Hand’.
