Vanmahotsav observed at Shivalik Public School, Sector 78, Mohali

The school observed Vanmahotsav, a week-long tree-planting festival, with great fervour, promoting environmental awareness among its students. The primary objective of the celebration was to promote a culture of environmental conservation and encourage tree plantation among students and hence, instil a sense of responsibility among individuals to protect the environment. Some of the key activities conducted during this week-long celebration included ‘Thumb Printing Activity’ for the students of classes I and II where they created beautiful tree artworks using thumb prints, showcasing their creativity while learning about the importance of trees. Kindergarten students were taken to the Learning Room where their teachers told them about the importance of trees and Vanmahotsav. A story highlighting the importance of trees was narrated to them followed by mass singing of the song “Trees – Our Best Friends”. During the morning assembly, the significance of Vanmahotsav was shared with classes III to V, highlighting the importance of tree plantation, environmental conservation, and the role individuals play in protecting nature. Later, everyone took the Green Pledge, promising to protect trees, care for nature, and nurture the planet for generations to come. On July 4, students of Class VII visited a nearby park and planted saplings of flowering trees, learning about the significance of afforestation and how trees contribute to a healthier planet. With saplings planted and Green Pledge taken, school’s Vanmahotsav celebration came to a close, leaving behind a greener tomorrow and a sense of environmental responsibility in the hearts of young learners.
