Vedika Chandel has been appointed the head girl and Jannat the vice-head girl of Government Model Senior Secondary School, Portmore, in the annual investiture ceremony held here today. The event highlighted the school’s achievements, the students’ leadership qualities and their commitment to discipline and responsibility. On this occasion, the School Council and the Hostel Council for the academic session 2025 were formally constituted. Students were appointed in various leadership roles, and they took oath of responsibility. Apart from the head and the vice-head girl, several other students were entrusted leadership roles. Principal Rakhi Pandit congratulated the newly appointed council members and encouraged them to carry out their duties with dedication, discipline and a deep sense of responsibility.

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.

The Tribune, the largest selling English daily in North India, publishes news and views without any bias or prejudice of any kind. Restraint and moderation, rather than agitational language and partisanship, are the hallmarks of the newspaper. It is an independent newspaper in the real sense of the term.

The Tribune has two sister publications, Punjabi Tribune (in Punjabi) and Dainik Tribune (in Hindi).
