Sri Guru Harkrishan Senior Sec Public School, Sector 40-C, Chandigarh, observed World Population Day with a range of awareness activities aimed at educating students about population-related concerns and responsible citizenship. The event was headed by the social science and legal studies departments in collaboration with the Electoral Literacy Club. Students of classes VI to VIII participated enthusiastically in various activities that included a thought-provoking PowerPoint presentation on global population trends, a poem highlighting the need for awareness and balance, and a solemn pledge to act as informed and responsible members of society. The programme was held under the guidance and encouragement of Principal Shama Kukkal, who emphasised the importance of nurturing socially aware and responsible individuals. The observance successfully encouraged reflection on the challenges posed by overpopulation and reinforced the need for collective responsibility in addressing them.
