Former BJP MP from Karnal Ashwini Chopra passed away on Saturday. He was suffering from cancer and breathed his last at a Gurugram hospital. He was 63.
He leaves behind wife and three sons.
The cremation will take place at Nigambodh Ghat in New Delhi at 10 am on Sunday.
Also known as Minna, he was the editor and owner of ‘Punjab Kesari’, Delhi.
A former cricketer, he also represented Punjab in the Ranji Trophy.
Congress president Sonia Gandhi condoled his demise, saying Chopra’s long and distinguished innings as an editor and social worker, and also as an MP would be long remembered. His friendship cut across political boundaries, and he was known for his forthright views, Gandhi said.
Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar also condoled the death in a tweet.
