Sonepat: Rich tributes were paid to the martyrs during the two-day national seminar on ‘Hundred years of Jallianwala Bagh massacre: Various dimensions’. It was organised by Dr BR Ambedkar National Law University, Sonepat, in collaboration with the ICSSR, North Western Regional Centre, Chandigarh, on the university premises. Speakers tried to ignite passion among the students of knowing more and more about such landmark events of national importance to become responsible citizens. They also emphasised on the importance of organising such commemorative events that educate, encourage and motivate the students for contributing to the nation.
CUH shines at cultural fest
Mahendragarh: The Central University of Haryana (CUH) clinched the overall trophy for the best presentation in 17 different competitions at SPANDAN: 2020, a cultural fest, held on the university premises. Maharshi Dayanand University, Rohtak, was declared first runner-up while Chaudhary Ranbir Singh University, Jind, was second runner-up. Chief guest Prof Markanday Ahuja, Vice Chancellor of Gurugram University, gave away the prizes to the winners. CUH VC Prof RC Kuhad said more than 400 students from 10 different universities participated in the fest.
Students learn job skills
Hisar: A talk on the topic “Skills required for private sector employment” was organised at the department of management of Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agriculture University in Hisar. Vinay Sindhu, assistant employment officer of the Employment Department, Siwani, said guest speaker Rahul Matta, chartered accountant, gave tips to the students about the skills required for private sector after completing their studies.
DPS holds Spring Fiesta
Ambala: Delhi Public School (DPS) organised Spring Fiesta – a talent show for young children, in the central lawns of Omaxe Green Flats, in which a number of children of the housing society and nearby areas participated to showcase their talent and skills. Children of age group 4 to 6 years enthralled the audience by singing and dancing. Principal Amita Dhaka applauded the students on their fantastic performances and emphasised that such activities were important for their overall development.
Blood donation camp
Faridabad: A blood donation camp was organised at JC Bose University of Science and Technology, YMCA, in which more than 200 units were collected. The camp was held in collaboration with the Faridabad unit of Bharat Vikas Parishad with the support of Red Cross Society. Asking the students to go for voluntary blood donation, Deputy Commissioner Yashpal Yadav said it was a noble cause as it helps save precious human lives.
Maths seminar at college
Karnal: A daylong national seminar on the topic ‘Recent advances in mathematical sciences’ was organised by the department of mathematics of Dyal Singh College, Karnal. Tarun Kumar Dass, Registrar, Delhi University, was the chief guest and Prof Anil K Vashisth, chairperson, department of mathematics, Kurukshetra University, was the guest of honour on the occasion.
Governor honours principal
Sonepat: Jyoti Juneja, principal of GVM Girls College, was honoured by Governor Satyadev Narayan Arya for organising better Scout Ranger activities during a state-level programme at Chandigarh. Ranger Nidhi Sen, a college student, was honoured by the Governor for excellent participation in the activities. Juneja said the Scout Rangers and Red Cross units of the college were always participating actively in different activities.
