A delight for all Patialvis
When I was serving in the Army, the PT used to be a drab affair. Post-retirement, however, this regimen has become a source of boundless joy. What used to be a full-throttle run with the troops earlier has now been replaced by a comfortable stroll with my wife in the colourful Baradari Gardens at Patiala.
The gardens are always abuzz with sounds of life. One can spot a gaggle of youth breaking into bhangra steps to the vibrant dhol beats. An NGO uses to the place to organise short skits on relevant contemporary themes. There is a group of octogenarians who act as if they are driving a motorcycle.
The Baradari Gardens have 12 pavilions, hence the name. The 81-acre complex was completed in 1876 under the regime of Maharaja Rajinder Singh. I cannot thank him more for giving us ‘Patialvis’ such a beautiful multi-purpose venue.
