Just a few minutes from Alwar while travelling to Jaipur, you find yourself surrounded by dense trees and the Aravallis running alongside the highway. Though I have grown up in Alwar, but every time I visit this mighty forest, dominated by the Royal Bengal Tigers, it always feels refreshing. The sight of dhok trees and lush greenery never fails to captivate me and the sunsets amidst the wild heart of Rajasthan are as stunning as ever.

Stepping inside the Sariska sanctuary brings a familiar yet elusive sense of peace — the perfect retreat I often long for during life’s hectic moments. The place has a lyricism of its own where you don’t need any music — because you never know when the roar of the mighty king will reach your ears.

While exploring Sariska, walking through the Babool trees spread all around, it’s easy to catch a cheerful glimpse of nilgai, chital, and sambars. But if the place seems quiet and still, don’t be disheartened — you’re in the vicinity of the mighty ruler of the forest.

Getting a glimpse of the tiger is rare, but if you do get lucky, you will understand why this majestic cat is the uncrowned ruler of Sariska. In every unhurried step, the majestic animal’s very presence reflects power and grace.
