Singers Sidhu Moosewala, Mankirat Aulakh booked for ‘propagating violence’

Punjab Police have booked singers Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu, popularly known as Sidhu Moosewala, and Mankirat Aulakh for propagating violence through a video on social media.

Mansa Senior Superintendent of Police Narender Bhargav said the two Punjabi singers were booked under sections 294 (sings, recites or utters any obscene song), 504(intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace) and 149 (unlawful assembly) of the Indian Penal Code.

Police said preliminary investigation had showed that the song was recorded at Moosewala’s house at village Mussa in Mansa district, and was later uploaded on YouTube, Tik Tok,  Facebook, and some other social media sites. 

The controversial song has the lines “Pakhia pakhia pakhia, gun wich panj golia..."(Pakhia Pakhia Pakhia there are five bullets in the gun),  

Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh voiced his concern about Punjabi songs promoting violence and gun culture, and said his government would not be tolerant of singers promoting such songs.
