Berlin, December 18
Patrik Schick snatched a draw for RB Leipzig in a pulsating 3-3 draw at title rivals Borussia Dortmund that moved them three points clear at the top of the Bundesliga on Tuesday.
Timo Werner struck twice as Leipzig came from behind twice in the second-half in a fiery encounter played out in torrential rain at the Signal Iduna Park. The draw means third-placed Dortmund missed the chance to move second ahead of Borussia Moechengladbach, who can join Leipzig on 34 points with a win over bottom side Paderborn on Wednesday.
Julian Weigl opened the scoring in the 23rd minute with a screamer from outside the box that Julian Brandt added Dortmund’s second 11 minutes later, showing a superb skill to turn past two Leipzig defenders and smash home a thumping finish. Leipzig only needed seven minutes after half-time to bring the score back to 2-2, with Timo Werner gifted the two goals through unforgivable errors from keeper Roman Burki and Brandt.
Flamengo reach CWC final
Doha: Bruno Henrique scored one goal and made two more to book Flamengo’s place in the final of the Club World Cup as the Brazilian giants came from behind to beat Asian champions Al Hilal 3-1 here. Salem Aldawsari gave the Saudi club a deserved lead in the first-half but Flamengo equalised through Giorgian De Arrascaeta in the 49th minute. The Brazilians will play the winner of the second semifinal between Liverpool and Mexican club Monterrey. — AFP
