Aditi Ashok shot a third consecutive 3-over 75 to finish her campaign at the Women’s British Open on a disappointing note.

Aditi made three bogeys, on the 10th, 14th and 15th holes, and one double-bogey on the second hole. She managed only two birdies, on the sixth and 11th holes, to finish with a total of 7-over.

After a promising start to the tournament, when she carded a 1-under in Round 1, Aditi found the going tough on the challenging Carnoustie Links course. Aditi finished tied-61, slipping from overnight tied-58.

Sweden’s Anna Nordqvist shot a 3-under to finish at 12-under, winning the Major title by one stroke.

Kapur drops to T-54th

Prague: Shiv Kapur fell down the leaderboard after a disappointing 4-over 76 on the third day of the Czech Masters. Kapur, who opened the week with encouraging 70-70, suffered two bogeys and a double-bogey and is now tied-54th. SSP Chawrasia and Ajeetesh Sandhu had already missed the cut. Finland’s Tapio Pulkkanen will take a two-stroke lead into the final round. The Finn carded a 6-under to move to 13-under.

Lahiri cards 71 in Round 3

Jersey City: A tired Anirban Lahiri endured a wild ride in the third round of The Northern Trust, compiling an even-par 71 to drop to tied-60th from overnight tied-38th.

The Indian golfer will have a lot of work to do to get into the top-10 for a place in next week’s BMW Championship in the FedExCup Playoffs.

Lahiri, who admitted to feeling fatigue, mixed his card with six birdies, including four over his last six holes, four bogeys and one double-bogey. At 4-under, the 34-year-old was eight shots off a possible top-10 finish.

Cameron Smith (60) and Jon Rahm (67) shared the third round lead on 16-under.

“If it (top-10 finish) doesn’t happen, it is still all good,” Lahiri said. “I am happy with the way I am playing. It’s unfortunate that I am at a stage where physically I’m a little limited and inhibited. I’ll try to deal with it and enjoy myself out there despite everything.”

Lahiri said he is on “the verge of exhaustion” and his “body is unable to cope with everything that has gone on in the past two months.”

“I had a five-or-six-hole period where I was trying to hit shots and my body just said no and I got into some bad spots. It’s not often I make a double from 110 yards from the middle of the fairway,” he said. — PTI
