All-rounder Dube will become international class: Bowling coach Arun
Chennai, December 13
India bowling coach Bharat Arun believes that Shivam Dube has all the ingredients to become a good all-rounder at the international level.
Dube displayed his big-hitting prowess during his innings of 54 off 30 balls in the second T20 International against West Indies in Thiruvananthapuram, hitting four sixes. “He (Dube) is an exciting prospect and I think he is gaining in confidence from every game,” said Arun.
Dube is known as a batting all-rounder, and his bowling figures show why — he gave away 63 runs in six overs in the three T20Is against West Indies. The medium-pacer was hit for 19 runs in his first over in the Mumbai T20I. However, Dube conceded only two runs in his third over to finish with 0/32.
Arun referred to that, saying: “If you look at the way he came back after he bowled the first over against West Indies, I think that was creditable,” Arun said. “For Virat (Kohli), to show faith in him after the first over and also for him to bowl a good spell after that…”
“I think he is an exciting talent. As he gains in confidence, he will become a good all-rounder,” Arun told reporters.
Arun also praised medium-pacer Deepak Chahar, who has done well in T20I cricket. Arun said Chahar has got “everything” to do consistently well at the international level.
“Deepak has been exceptional even in the IPL. He is someone who can move the ball both ways,” Arun said. “He is also a very skilful bowler, bowling slow bouncers, yorkers… With so much skill on hand… He has got everything in him to do well at the international level.” — PTI
