Four Indians in semifinals of Asian youth boxing

Four Indian boxers — Jaydeep Rawat (71kg), Vanshaj (63.5kg), Daksh Singh (67kg) and Suresh Vishvanath (48kg) — entered the semifinals of the Asian youth boxing championships in Dubai. However, Victor Saikhom Singh (54kg), Vijay Singh (57kg) and Rabindra Singh lost their matches.

Olympian and 1962 Asiad winner Chandrasekhar dies Former India footballer

O Chandrasekhar, who was part of the gold medal winning Indian team at the 1962 Asian Games, died here today. He was 85. Chandrasekhar, a defender, was a member of the 1960 Olympics Indian team. He played 25 games for India between 1958 and 1966. — Agencies

AFC Cup: 1-1 draw takes ATKMB into knockouts

ATK Mohun Bagan qualified for the knockouts of the AFC Cup following a 1-1 stalemate with Bangladesh champions Bashundhara Kings in a Group D match here on Tuesday. The Indian club made the inter-zonal semifinal of the second-tier continental tournament as South Asian Zone champions. Brazilian midfielder Jonathan Fernandes (28th minute) put the Bangladeshi side ahead in before teammate Sushanto Tripura (45 2’) was sent off. Assisted by a Liston Colaco cross, Australian forward David Williams (62nd) scored the equaliser to make Bagan group toppers with seven points. — PTI
