Antim Panghal, Aman Sehrawat will be seeded wrestlers at Paris Olympics

World Championships bronze medallist Antim Panghal (women’s 53kg) and immensely talented Aman Sehrawat (men’s freestyle 57kg) have been seeded fourth and sixth in their respective weight categories which should help them avoid tough rivals in the initial bouts of the wrestling competition at the Paris Olympics. The wrestling events will commence on August 5 and conclude on August 11, the last day of the Games. This is the first time wrestling events will have seedings at the Olympics.

Anahat, Tiana enter Round 3 of World Junior squash
Anahat Singh has stormed into the girls’ third round of the World Junior Squash Championships in Houston. The 16-year-old eased past South African Dene Van Zyl 11-3 11-2 11-6 in the second round following a first-round bye. Compatriot Tiana Parasrampuria advanced to the third round with a 14-12 11-5 11-5 win over Emma Merson of New Zealand

GM Raja Rithvik bags silver, Iniyan takes bronze medal
Indian Grandmaster Raja Rithvik bagged the silver medal while compatriot Panneerselvam Iniyan took home the bronze in the La Plagne Open here. Rithvik clinched silver through tie-breaker after he was tied for second place with other players such as Iniyan, GM Prraneeth Vuppala, and IM Dhulipalla Bala Chandra Prasad.

D Gukesh and R Praggnanandhaa are notable Indian names who will take part in the Chess Olympiad set to be held in Budapest in September.
