Asian Squash Championships: Indian men enter final, women out

Kuala Lumpur: The top-seeded Indian men booked a spot in the final of the 20th Asian Squash Team Championships with a 2-0 win over Hong Kong in the semifinals here today. However, the women’s team, seeded third, went down 1-2 to Hong Kong in the semis despite the No. 1 player Joshna Chinappa giving them the lead. In the men’s match, Ramit Tandon gave India the lead by defeating Henry Leung. Saurav Ghosal then followed suit, beating Yip Tsz Fung in four games. India now face second-seeded Malaysia, a 2-0 winner over Japan, in Saturday’s summit clash.

India A and South Africa A play out a draw

Bad light halted India A’s march towards a possible victory as their second unofficial Test against South Africa A ended in a draw on the fourth and final day of the match here on Friday. In pursuit of a 234-run target, India were going along nicely at 155 for three in their second innings when bad light forced an early stumps. India had more than 20 overs at their disposal and needed to score 79 runs but the weather conditions did not improve.
