Gaganjeet Bhullar carded a 1-over 71 to lie tied-68th after the third round of the Saudi International golf tournament at the Royal Greens Golf and Golf & Country Resort. Bhullar picked up a couple of birdies at the 4th and 12th holes but also dropped a bogey and a double-bogey in the first and 13th holes to go 2-over after three rounds. Graeme McDowell (66) and his former Ryder Cup partner Victor Dubuisson (65) grabbed the first and second position after Day 3 and will go against each other in the final round. McDowell at 12-under and Dubuisson at 11-under will play together, just as they did at the Ryder Cup in 2014. Gavin Green (70) slipped to third at 9-under, one shot ahead of Dustin Johnson (68), Renato Paratore (70) and Victor Perez (73). In the fourth and final round, Green will play with defending champion Dustin Johnson, one group behind leaders McDowell and Dubuisson.

World No. 10 Michelle Li staved off a spirited challenge from Rituparna Das to take the North Eastern Warriors to a 5-0 win against the Pune 7 Aces as they sealed their semifinal spot in the Premier Badminton League. The loss snapped Pune’s three-match winning streak as the Guwahati-based franchise bagged their third victory in five ties with a fabulous performance that saw them win four of the five matches of the day. With the 15-8 13-15 15-13 win against the resilient Das, Li has remained unbeaten in four ties.

Haryana’s Adarsh wins twin titles in nat’l shooting trials
Haryana’s Adarsh Singh and Madhya Pradesh’s Shreya Agrawal won double titles at the national Shooting trials. While Adarsh won both the men’s and junior men’s 25m rapid fire pistol T1 trials, Shreya notched up victories in both the women’s and junior women’s 10m air rifle T2 trials. Tokyo Olympics quota winner Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar also won the men’s 50m rifle 3 positions T2 trial. Adarsh qualified sixth with a score of 578 for the men’s final and shot 32 in the final to emerge victorious. It was a Haryana 1-2-3 with Ayush Sangwan coming second with 26 and Anish third with 25 points.

Chennaiyin beat Kerala 6-3 in ISL goal fest
The South Indian derby in the ISL turned out to be a high-scoring affair as Chennaiyin FC demolished Kerala Blasters FC 6-3 at the Jawaharlal Nehru stadium. Chennaiyin roared into a three-goal lead at half-time, thanks to a brace from Rafael Crivellaro (39th, 45th) and another goal from Nerijus Valskis (45th). But a hat-trick from Bartholomew Ogbeche (48th, 65th, 76th) threatened to bring Kerala Blasters back into the match. A brace from Chhangte (59th, 80th) and another Valskis goal (90th) sealed the result in favour of the visiting team. — Agencies
