Brinkman (3rd and 47th) struck twice, while Sanjay (6th), Alexander Hendrickx (9th), Nicolas Bandurak (29th) and Boby Singh Dhami (49th) also scored for the Lancers.

Inaugural Kho Kho World Cup begins from January 13
A potentially exciting match between India and Nepal on January 13 will set the ball rolling for the inaugural Kho Kho World Cup to be played at the Indira Gandhi Stadium. The January 13-19 tournament will see participation from 39 teams in the men’s and women’s categories. The men’s competition features 20 teams divided into four groups and the league stage will culminate on January 16, followed by the playoffs beginning on January 17. The men’s final will take place on January 19.

Maaya R shocked world No. 60 Ada Kumru in the girls’ singles category of the ITF J300 event, where top seed and title favourite Yoana Konstantinova was also knocked out on Day 2. Hailing from Coimbatore, Maaya has been making good progress of late and she underlined her growth with a sensational 6-1 7-6 (1) win over the fourth seed from Turkiye in the opening round.

Real Madrid rested most of their big stars and still hammered fourth tier Deportivo Minera 5-0 to reach the last-16 of the Copa del Rey. Vinicius Jr, Kylian Mbappe, Jude Bellingham and goalkeeper Ferland Mendy all started on the bench as coach Carlo Ancelotti gave a debut to 17-year-old central defender Diego Aguado, who lined up alongside his elder brother Lorenzo. Endrick, Brahim Diaz and Arda Guler all got rare starts up front for Real.

Milan register 3-2 win over Inter in Italian Super Cup final
It took exactly one week on the job for Sergio Conceicao to earn his first trophy as AC Milan’s coach — with two comeback wins no less. Milan came back from two goals down to beat city rivals Inter Milan 3-2 and win the Italian Super Cup. Rafael Leao came off the bench and played a part in all three of Milan’s goals from Theo Hernandez, Christian Pulisic and Tammy Abraham. Conceicao was hired to replace the fired Paulo Fonseca last Monday and also led the Rossoneri to a comeback win over Juventus in the semifinals.
