Manu rested, Rhythm to compete in two events

Rhythm Sangwan will be the only Indian shooter to compete in two events in the season-ending ISSF World Cup Final here after double Olympics medallist Manu Bhaker opted for a three-month rest following her exploits in the Paris Games. The National Rifle Association of India announced a 23-member Indian squad for the tournament that will be held from October 13 to 18 at the Dr Karni Singh Shooting Range.

Mannepalli leads Indian charge into quarters

Tharun Mannepalli emerged as the standout Indian singles player as he along with two doubles pairs progressed to the quarterfinals at the Vietnam Super 100 tournament. Tharun defeated Finland’s Joakim Oldorff 21-7 23-21. In mixed doubles, top-seeded Sathish Kumar Karunakaran and Aadya Variyath beat Taiwan’s Chen Cheng Kuan and Hung Yu-En 21-18 21-11. Sixth-seeded Dhruv Kapila and Tanisha Crasto earned a 21-9 21-7 win over compatriots Bokka Navaneeth and Ritika Thaker.
