Chandigarh, March 3
Chandigarh recorded a 10-wicket victory over Patna on the opening day of the State Bank of India Inter Circle Cricket Tournament, at the Sector 16 Cricket Stadium today. After winning the toss and opted to bat, Patna posted 71/9 in allotted 15 overs. Rajeev Ranjan (16) and Rishi Kant (15) were the only two main scorers for the side. Varun Khanna and Sarabjeet claimed two wickets each, while Siddharth Kaul took one for Chandigarh. In reply, Chandigarh posted Ravi Inder (54 off 20 balls) and Vishwas Bhalla (16 off 3 balls) scored unbeaten contributions to ensure Chandigarh’s easy win.
In the second match, Delhi defeated Amaravati by 41 runs. Batting first, Delhi posted 122/7 in 15 overs with the help of Viabhav Yadav (22) and Rahul Yadav (21). Y Shalen and S Santosh took two wickets each for the bowling side. In reply, Amaravati posted 81/9 in allotted overs. N Ratna Shekhar (16) was the lone main scorer for the side. Prateek and Vijay Bhadur picked four wickets each for the bowling side. Bhopal recorded a 50-run win over Mumbai in the third match.Harsh Gowli scored unbeaten 99 off 49 balls to help Bhopal achieve 162/2 in 15 overs. Anthony Pushparaj (41) was the other notable scorer for the side. In reply, Mumbai managed to score 112/6 in allotted 15 overs. Kavi Mange (44) was the only main contributor to Mumbai’s innings. Jatin Saxena claimed two and Anirudh Joshi took one for the bowling side.
Chettan William posted a quickie 70 of 32 balls top help Bangalore record a 90-run win over Chennai. Batting first, Bangalore posted 154/3 in 15 overs. William’s innings was supported by Pawan Deshpande (34). V Vijayasarathi claimed two wickets and Rakesh Kumar took one for Chennai. Chasing a modest total, Chennai could score only 64/5 in 15 overs. M Harish (26) was the main man to score for Chennai. William meanwhile excelled in bowling too as he claimed three wickets, while Anirudh Joshi took one for the bowling side. In other matches, Hyderabad defeated Guwahati by 81 runs, Jaipur defeated Lucknow by 17 runs, Kerala recorded a 156-run win over Bhubaneshwar and Ahmedabad beat Kolkata by 18 runs.
