Chandigarh, March 4
Chandigarh circle team recorded a second consecutive win of the ongoing State Bank of India Inter Circle Cricket Tournament by registering a 77-run win over Maharashtra at the Sector 16 Cricket Stadium today.
Both Varun Khanna and Siddharth Kaul claimed three wickets each to defend Chandigarh’s total of 167 runs. Earlier, the hosts opted to bat first and posted 167/4 in allotted 20 overs. Ravi Inder remained the main performer for the side as he scored 74 off 53 balls, with four boundaries and three sixes. Kaul meanwhile contributed 34 runs to the total. Gautam Yadav and C Prabhau claimed one wicket each of the bowling side. In reply, Mumbai batsmen were bowled out for 90 runs. Sandeep (17) and Manish (16) were the two main contributors in the chase. Both Khanna (3/15) and Kaul (3/18) were the two main wicket takers for the side.
Amaravati circle defeated Chennai by seven wickets in the second match. Batting first, Chennai posted 149/4 in 20 overs with the help of KM Harish and k Shiva Kumar as they both posted 41 runs each in the total. Kalyan Deepak and Y Shalem took one wicket each for the bowling side. In reply, Amaravati scored 152/3 in 18.1 overs. G Ratnakar (51) and S Sharuq Ahmed (49) were the two main performers for the side. Rajesh Kumar took three wickets for Chennai to remain the pick of the bowlers. Bhopal recorded a nine-wicket win over Patna. Jatin Sahay (3/5) and DS Bundela (2/7) claimed majority of wicket to bowl out Patna for 77 runs. Tarun Kumar (32) was the only notable scorer for Patna. In reply, Bhopal easily achieved the target with the help of Jatin Saxena (33) and Harsh Gawali (28). Santosh Kumar claimed the only wicket for Patna. In another match, Hyderabad defeated Kerala by 35 runs. T Suman (43) and Akash Bhandari (40) scored major contributions as Hyderabad posted 162/6 in allotted 20 overs. Shahid CP and Abhishek Mohan both claimed two wickets each for the bowling side. In reply, Kerala scored 127/6 in 20 overs. Rakesh RJ (49) and Vinod Kumar (35) were the two best performers for the side. Alfred claimed two wickets, while Suman took one for Hyderabad.
Majid Khalil scored an unbeaten ton as Lucknow defeated Ahmedabad by five wickets. Chasing 163 runs, Lucknow scored 164/5 in 19.2 overs. Khalil’s ton included six boundaries and similar number of sixes off 60 balls. Rakesh Dhruv and Birju Pathak took one wicket each for Ahmedabad. Earlier, Dhruv (39) and Kanayia Pathak (34) scored for Ahmedabad. Gyanendra Pandey claimed three wickets, while Sudhir Bharti took two for the bowling side. In other matches, Jaipur defeated Kolkata by 56 runs, Guwahati recorded a nine-wicket win over Bhubaneshwar and Bangalore defeated Delhi by eight wickets.
