Services Sports Control Board registered a comprehensive 5-2 victory over Hockey Chandigarh in a pool-A match in the 10th Hockey India Senior Men National Championship 2020 (A division), in Jhansi, today.
Both sides were neck and neck for more than half of the match, but once Services Sports Control Board broke the 2-2 deadlock in the 42nd minute, the team raced away to a big victory. Ashis Topno (9th minute), Aakib Rahim (13th), Ajinkya Jadhav (42nd), Rahul (51st) and Jugraj Singh (57th) scored for Services Sports Control Board, while Harsimranjeet Singh (3rd) and Sanjay (32nd) netted goals for Hockey Chandigarh.
Hockey Punjab and Hockey Unit of Tamil Nadu played out an intense game in their pool-A match. Hockey Unit of Tamil Nadu raced away with the match by scoring two goals in the first half. However, Hockey Punjab gained momentum in the second half and levelled the scores before the final whistle. Mareeswaran Sakthivel netted the first goal for Tamil Nadu in the 13th minute, while Selvaraj Kanagaraj doubled the lead in the 25th minute. Ashishpal Sharma (44th) reduced the margin for Punjab. The side brought in another goal as Varinder Singh netted the equalizer in the 51st minute.
Hockey Haryana defeated Canara Bank 2-1 in a pool- C game. Hockey Haryana was leading 1-0 for the major part of the match before Canara Bank found the equaliser in the 58th minute. However, Hockey Haryana scored the winner in the very next minute to seal the deal. Vikas (15th ), Rajant (59th ) found the back of the net for Hockey Haryana, while N Kumar (58th) scored the lone goal for Canara Bank.
Petroleum Sports Promotion Board and Central Secretariat played out a 2-2 draw against Central Secretariat in a pool-B match. Mohd Shariq (32nd , 52nd) found the back of the net for Central Secretariat, while Diwakar Ram (47th) and Roshan Minz (60th ) scored for Petroleum Sports Promotion Board.
The Mumbai Hockey Association Ltd registered a comfortable 4-2 victory over Central Reserve Police Force in their Pool-b match. Once The Mumbai Hockey Association Ltd took control of proceedings at 3-1, the players ensured that their side stayed ahead right till the end. Captain Yuvraj Walmiki (8th, 16th), Vinay Walmiki (22nd) and Pawan Rajbhar (33rd ) netted goals for Mumbai, while Md Wasiullah Khan (7th) and Deepak (27th ) scored for Central Reserve Police Force.
In pool- C, Punjab & Sind Bank alos played a 2-2 draw against Association of Indian Universities. Prabhdeep Singh (4th ) and Prince (36th) were the two scorer for Punjab & Sind Bank, whereas Gaganjeet Singh (48th ) and Sukhjeet Singh (55th ) found the back of the net for Association of Indian Universities.
