Some fine performances by skipper Amanjot Kaur (84), Monika Pandey (54) and Nandani Sharma (4/13) helped Chandigarh log their first win of the Women’s Senior One Day Trophy match against Bihar at Siechem Stadium Puducherry, today.

The local eves logged a 106run win to garner four points in the opening game. Chandigarh skipper Amanjot won the toss and opted to bat. The side posted 188/8 in allotted 50 overs. Opener Monika Pandey and Manisha Badhan started for Chandigarh but raised only 14-run partnership. Badhan was bowled out for 2 off Apurva.

Monika was then joined skipper Amanjot to stable the team’s innings. They duo raise a 114-run partnership for the 2nd wicket. Apurva once again came to the rescue of Bihar as she accounted for Monika (54 off 128 balls, with three boundaries) on the team’s total reading of 118. P Guleria thereafter pushed the total to 161 runs by raising a 43-run partnership with the skipper. She contributed 12 off 14 before getting caught by Dipa Kumari off Nivedita. Shraddha thereafter claimed two quick wickets to reduce the side to 177/5. Nandani (8) and Amanjot (84 off 119 balls, studded with seven boundaries) were the two victims of Shraddha. Rajni Devi (1) was run out by Rachana Kumari, while Apurva Kumari accounted for Shivangi for a duck and Parul Saini (5) to restrict Chandigarh at 188/8 in 50 overs. Apurva (2/37), Shraddha (2/38), Apurva Kumari (2/41) were the main wicket takers for the bowling side, while Nivedita (1/28) also contributed for the bowling side.

In reply, Bihar eves were bowled out for 82 runs in 39.1 overs. Nandani accounted for first three wickets—Dipa Kumari (5), Sana Ali (8) and Syed Fatma (0)—to reduce the side for 24/3. However, the trouble did not stop here for Bihar as they continued to lose wickets. Apurva Kumari and B Kumari both contributed 10 runs each before giving away their wickets to Rajni, while Ambu accounted for Apurav (0) and Prity (17). Kumari Shibi claimed Bihar skipper Rachana Kumari (11) and Shraddha (5), whereas Nandaini claimed Anamika (2) to claim her fourth wicket.
