Neeraj Chopra makes history by winning an athletics gold medal to end India’s 100-year-long wait, celebs shower congratulatory messages

Neeraj Chopra created history at the Tokyo Olympics on Saturday as the Javelin thrower brought a gold medal for India.

He became the first from India to win a gold medal in track and field at the Tokyo Olympics.

Neeraj, who is a farmer’s son from Khandra village, near Panipat in Haryana, produced a second-round throw of 87.58m in the finals and ended India’s 100-year wait for a track and field medal in the Olympics.

This is India’s first gold in the Olympics this year.

Congratulatory messages have been pouring in for Neeraj since then. Celebs like Priyanka Chopra, Deepika Padukone, Alia Bhatt, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Ranveer Singh, Shraddha and Kapil Sharma, took to Instagram Stories to celebrate Neeraj Chopra’s win. While others posted congratulatory messages on Twitter.
