Chandigarh University (Gharuan) won the All India Inter University (men) 15’s Rugby Championship, concluded at Panjab University, today. Shivaji University (Kolhapur) claimed the second position, while KIIT (Bhubaneswar) finished at third spot. Punjabi University (Patiala) finished fourth in the championship. The Gharuan team defeated Kolhapur 29-3 in a one-sided final, while Patiala went down 12-19 against Bhubaneswar. In semifinals, Kolhapur lads blanked Patiala 19-0, whereas Chandigarh University won 17-0 against Bhubaneswar. In the women’s category, KIIT Bhubaneswar won the title by defeating Punjabi University 24-6. Maharshi Dayanand University (Rohtak) claimed the third position by registering a 46-0 win over Mewar University. The Patiala eves defeated Mewar University 20-0 before reaching in the final, while KIIT Bhubaneswar defeated Rohtak 17-0.

KIIT (Bhubaneswar) bag twin titles

KIIT (Bhubaneswar) teams won both men and women titles of the All India Inter University 7’s Rugby Championship, concluded at Panjab University. In the women’s category, the Bhubaneswar team defeated Patliputra University (Patna) 19-5, whereas Maharshi Dayanand University (Rohtak) claimed the third position by defeating host Panjab University 7-5. Guru Nanak Dev University (Amritsar) and Kavayitri Bahinabai Chaudhari University (Jalgaon) claimed fifth and six position, respectively. In the men’s category, the team of KIIT Bhubaneswar defeated the hosts 10-7 to win the title. Shivaji University (Kolhapur) claimed the third position by registering a 21-12 victory over Chandigarh University. Lovely Profffesional University (Phagwara) claimed the fifth position and Punjab University (Patiala) finished sixth in the championship.
