Relegation-threatened Aizawl FC pulled off a spectacular come-from-behind 2-2 draw against hosts Real Kashmir FC in the I-League here today.
The Snow Leopards led through Scotsman Mason Robertson (36th minute) in the first half and Englishman Kallum Higginbotham (54th) doubled it at the beginning of the second.
However, young Rochharzela (84th and 87th) came up with twin strikes in space of three minutes to stun the home supporters in the stands at the TRC Ground. Kashmir join the likes of Chennai City and Churchill Brothers on 19 points to enter the top-5 after 13 games, while Aizawl secure a crucial point to climb just above the relegation zone with 16 points from 14 matches.
In other matches of the day, Gokulam Kerala FC and Punjab FC played out a 1-1 draw at the EMS Corporation Stadium, Kozhikode. Aser Dipanda Dicka (34th) had put the visitors in front but Nathaniel Garcia’s (63rd) strike guaranteed a point for the hosts. As a result, Punjab remain in the second place with 22 points from 14 matches.
Meanwhile, Jaime Colado struck deep into stoppage time to help East Bengal hold Churchill Brothers 1-1 at the Saltlake Stadium. — PTI
