Dybala, Cuadrado take intiative as Juve win 2-0
Turin, February 16
Goals from Paulo Dybala and Juan Cuadrado sent Juventus back to the top of the Serie A table with a 2-0 win over 10-man Brescia today.
Brescia striker Florian Aye picked up two yellow cards in three minutes near the end of the first half and Juventus immediately capitalised as Dybala whipped in the opener from a free kick. Cuadrado doubled their advantage with a neat finish after 75 minutes, and the home crowd were given more reason to cheer when captain Giorgio Chiellini came off the bench to make his first appearance since rupturing his cruciate ligament in August.
Maurizio Sarri rested forward Cristiano Ronaldo, who has scored in 10 consecutive Serie A matches. However, Inter Milan will move top if they win against Lazio in the late kick-off today.
Spurs up to 5th, Reds roll on
London: Son Heung-min struck a stoppage time winner, after a dreadful error from Bjorn Engels, as Tottenham Hotspur won 3-2 at Aston Villa to move up to fifth in the Premier League.
In an enthralling match, Villa went ahead in the ninth minute when Spurs defender Toby Alderweireld turned an Anwar El Ghazi’s cross into his own net. But the Belgian centre-half made amends for that area when he fired Tottenham back on to level terms with a superb shot on the turn from inside the box.
Yesterday, Sadio Mane struck as Liverpool overcame Storm Dennis and feisty basement club Norwich 1-0 to extend their lead at the top table to 25 points.
Liverpool have gone 43 top-flight matches unbeaten, just six matches behind Arsenal’s record of 49 games in 2003-04 and are sprinting towards their first league title for 30 years. — Agencies
