Former England international and Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler has been appointed the head coach of East Bengal for a two-year tenure, team’s principal owner Hari Mohan Bangur said today. East Bengal and Mohun Bagan will make their ISL debut this year. Fowler is EPL’s seventh-highest goal-scorer. In his managerial career, 45-year-old Fowler was with A-League side Brisbane Roar FC last season when they finished fourth. Former India and East Bengal captain Rennedy Singh will be Fowler’s deputy.

India’s Dev qualifies for Jr French Open main draw

India’s Dev Javia has qualified for the boys’ singles main draw of the Junior French Open after winning both his qualifying league matches here. The 18-year-old from Vadodara beat Emiliano Aguilera Guerrero of Mexico 6-2 3-6 10-8 in the final group match to make it to the junior singles main draw. Javia is now the second Indian player to qualify for the Roland Garros junior singles.
