Chandigarh, February 27

After an embarrassing 10-wicket drubbing of England by India in the pink-ball Test in two days, England men’s and women’s cricketers have got into a fierce war of words.

It began with England women’s cricketer Alexendra Hartley‘s impudent tweet against her counterparts.

She wrote: “Nice of the England boys to get this test match finished just before England women play tonight with clapping emoticon before adding ‘Catch them on @btsportcricket’”.

To this, Test opener Rory Burns wrote, “Very disappointing attitude considering all the boys do to support the women’s game.”

The tweet was liked by James Anderson and Ben Stokes.

As the conversation followed, Burns, fearing a counterattack, deleted his reply.

Former English international Ben Duckett also flayed Hartley, calling it an “average tweet”.

“Average tweet. Don’t think any of the men’s team would have been “👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼” if the women lost,” he wrote.

England were bowled out within one session in their second innings and India cantered to a 49-run target in their second innings in the third session of Day 2 on Thursday.
