The Haryana government today announced that sportspersons from the state who win gold medal in the upcoming Tokyo Olympics would be given a cash amount of Rs 6 crore. The state government will give the silver winners Rs 4 crore while the bronze medallists will get Rs 2.50 crore.

Jadeja displaces Holder as top Test allrounder
India’s Ravindra Jadeja today dislodged West Indian Jason Holder as the world’s top allrounder in the latest ICC Test rankings. Jadeja is two points ahead of Holder (384) while England’s Ben Stokes is third on 377 points. Another Indian, Ravichandran Ashwin is at fourth with 353 points, followed by Shakib Al Hasan (338) of Bangladesh.

PM launches Olympics quiz, winners to get Indian jerseys
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has launched the Olympics Quiz to create more awareness about Indian participation at the Olympics. The launch coincides with the International Olympic Day, which is observed to mark the foundation day of the International Olympic Committee. Winners of the quiz, which is to run until July 23, will win the Indian team fan jerseys besides a few of the lucky winners will also get a chance to meet their favourite Olympian.

India’s Talwar makes pro debut on Forme Tour in US
India’s Saptak Talwar, who could not play in the Canadian Mackenzie Tour because of travel restrictions, will make his professional debut at $110,000 The L&J Golf Championship this week. The 22-year-old New Delhi-born Talwar had become the first Indian to qualify for the Canadian Mackenzie Tour in March but could not play due to travel restrictions arising out of Covid. But, the PGA Tour created the Forme Tour for Canadian Tour players living in the US. The L&J Golf Championship is the inaugural event on the eight-event Tour. Agencies
