India defeated Japan by 211 runs in the Under-19 Asia Cup on December 2 in Sharjah. Batting first, India posted an imposing 339/6 in 50 overs. Mohamed Amaan played a match-winning knock of 122* off 118 balls, supported by KP Karthikeya (57 off 49 balls) and Ayush Mhatre, whose 54 off 29 balls featured six boundaries and four sixes. C Andre Siddarth (38), Hardik Raj (25*), and Vaibhav Suryavanshi (23) also contributed to the total. Japan's bowlers Hugo Kelly (2/42) and Kiefer Yamamoto-Lake (2/84) took two wickets each.
In reply, Japan managed only 128/8. Kelly was their top scorer with 50 off 111 balls, while Charles Hinze remained unbeaten on 35. India’s bowlers were dominant, with Karthikeya (2/21), Hardik Raj (2/9), and Chetan Sharma (2/14) taking six wickets between them. India restricted Japan but failed to bowl them out.
This was India’s first win in Group A after losing to Pakistan by 43 runs in their opener. They will next face the United Arab Emirates in their final group match on December 4.
