Guwahati: A first-half goal fest saw NorthEast United FC and Mumbai City FC share the spoils in a 2-2 draw in an Indian Super League clash here today. Panagiotis Triadis (9th minute) opened the scoring for the home side before Mumbai City fought back with two goals from Amine Chermiti (23rd and 32nd). Asamoah Gyan (42nd) then restored parity for the Highlanders.

3 perfect rounds highlight of Day 1 of skeet qualifiers

Olympian Mairaj Ahmad Khan of Uttar Pradesh, India international Smit Singh of ONGC and Gurjot Singh of Punjab shot three perfect rounds on Day 1 of skeet qualifiers of the National Shotgun Championships here today. Khan, Smit and Gurjot shot 25 out of 25 targets across the first two rounds of qualifying in the men’s skeet category to lead the field of 110 shooters. Gurnihal Singh Garcha of Punjab led the junior men’s category after his two rounds fetched him a score of 49. Ganemat Shekhon, also of Punjab, led both the senior and junior women’s categories with a score of 48.

PCB invites SA for 3-match T20I series next year

Pakistan has invited South Africa to tour the country for a three-match T20 International series next year, according to a source. A source in the Pakistan Cricket Board said today that a formal invite has been sent to Cricket South Africa to play three T20I matches in Pakistan after the Proteas’ ODI series in India next year.

15-year-old leggie named in Pakistan women’s team

The 15-year old leg-spinner Aroob Shah was today named in the Pakistan women’s squad for the forthcoming ODI and T20I series against England women in Malaysia. Aroob played an ODI against Bangladesh earlier this month in Lahore and took 2/37. England refused to travel to Pakistan for the ICC Women’s Championship series and the PCB will host it in Malaysia.

Kenyan 17-year-old Munguti given four-year drug ban

Teenager Angela Ndungwa Munguti became the 43rd Kenyan runner suspended for doping this year when she was handed a four-year ban, announced by the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) today. Munguti, a 17-year-old former African Youth Games 800m silver medallist, tested positive for Norandrosterone, a metabolite of anabolic steroid Nandrolone. The drug showed up in a sample taken on October 7, 2018, in an out-of-competition doping control programme at the Summer Youth Olympics. Agencies

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has become part-owner of Stockholm club Hammarby, but the 38-year-old has no intention of playing in the Swedish top flight again, despite publishing a picture of the club’s shirt with his name on it on Instagram. Ibrahimovic told newspaper Aftonbladet that he had bought 50 percent shares in AEG Sweden, who in turn own 47 percent of Hammarby, thereby acquiring approximately a quarter of the club. Agencies
