It gets trickier for Yashasvi Jaiswal, Jos Buttler
Chennai, April 11
Rajasthan Royals’ in-form opening pair of Jos Buttler and Yashasvi Jaiswal will face a quality test on a tricky Chepauk pitch when they take on Chennai Super Kings in the IPL here tomorrow.
The England white-ball skipper and his young Indian partner have both scored a couple of half-centuries each and that too at healthy strike-rates of 180.95 and 164.47, respectively.
But in the three games that Rajasthan have played so far, two were in Guwahati, which has the flattest batting deck amongst all the venues. The Hyderabad track was also a batting-friendly venue.
In Chennai, they will encounter completely different conditions as the ball can grip the pitch and also get slower as the match progresses. The toss is always an important factor here because chasing anything above 170 could be a risky proposition — especially when you have Moeen Ali, Ravindra Jadeja and Mitchell Santner trying to fox you. — PTI
Jadeja’s gift for Dhoni
Chennai: Premier all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja is hoping for a victory in talisman Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s 200th match as captain of Chennai Super Kings in the IPL. Asked about his thoughts on this at the pre-match press conference today, Jadeja said: “What can I say. He is a legend of not only CSK, he is a legend of Indian cricket. I would like to wish him good luck. Hopefully, we will win the game tomorrow and give it as a gift to him on his 200th match as captain.”
