Kashvee, Rajni script Chandigarh victory

Kashvee Gautam and Rajni Devi came up with a match winning performance to help Chandigarh registered a seven-wicket comfortable win over Bihar in the opening match of the Women’s U-23 One Day Trophy match, at Ravenshaw University in Cuttack today.
Right-arm medium pacer Kashvee claimed a 5-wicket haul for 17 runs, while right-arm spinner Rajni picked up 4/15 to remain the main performers for the winning side.
The low scoring match witnessed both teams giving away extra runs. While the Chandigarh eves gave away 37 extras, the Bihar outfit went ahead by giving away 39 extra runs.
Bihar skipper Apurva Kumari won the toss and opted to bat before getting bowled out for 96 runs in 43.1 overs. The side opened with Vishalakshi and Aradhya Raj. The duo raised 15-run partnership before Kashvee Gautam accounted for Vishalakshi (2). Skipper Apurva then joined Aradhya and they raised a 31-run partnership take the team’s total to 46 runs. As the duo continues to strike well, Rajni was brought into attack. The spinner claimed Aradhya (7), while Kashvee took Apurva (20) to reduce the side to 46/3. Bihar trouble went deeper as the city bowling duo continues to strike. Rajni claimed Yashita (4), while Kashvee held Sikha Singh (0) to further reduce the side 51/5. Aarya (2) was the next to go after fallen prey to Kashvee, whereas Raji claimed Tejashwani for a duck. Down to 59/7, Bihar eves had some relief as Komal and Rachna Singh raised a 29-run partnership for the 8th wicket. The partnership was broken by Rajni when she accounted for Komal (11) on the team’s total of 87 runs. Rachna (4) was trapped lbw by Parul Saini. Kashvee completed his five-wicket haul by claiming Preet Kumari (0) and halted Bihar innings for 96 runs. Apurva (9) was the only unbeaten player for Bihar.
Chasing a low total, Chandigarh eves also started on a shaky note. But the extras gave away by Bihar bowlers helped them to achieve the target easily. Opener Monika Pandey (7) was the first to go after being run out by Apurva, while another opener Mehul (1) was also trapped lbw off Apurva. Parushi Prabhakar thereafter played calmly. She faced 65 balls to score 18 runs before getting caught by Aradhya off Preeti. Skipper Amanjot Kaur and Kashvee from there on took responsibility and ensured an easy opening win for Chandigarh. Amanjot posted unbeaten 22 balls off 33 balls, with three boundaries, whereas Kashvee contributed unbeaten 12 off 23 balls, studded with two boundaries. Apurva and Preet claimed one wicket each for the Bihar.
