Kochhar in lead as Aadil slides

Karandeep Kochhar came with a brilliant 4-under 68 to rise to the top spot after the second round of the Tata Steel PGTI Players Championship. Playing at the Panchkula Golf Club, Kochhar made five birdies to climb one spot up from the overnight tied-2nd, taking his two-day total to a 10-under 134. The 21-year-old Kochhar, runner-up in the previous PGTI tournament last week, picked up five birdies in exchange of a lone bogey.
Delhi-based Arjun Prasad carded the day’s joint lowest score of 67 to move up 10 spots to joint second at an 8-under 136. Mysuru’s Yashas Chandra carded a 68 for a share of the second position, gaining four spots.
The halfway cut was applied at a 2-over, with 53 professionals making it to the money rounds.
Chandigarh’s Akshay Sharma (68), the winner of the PGTI event last week, was in a four-way tie for fourth at a 7-under 137. Giving him company were with Gurugram’s Veer Ahlawat (71), Chandigarh’s Ranjit Singh (67), and Kolkata’s Shankar Das (69). First-round leader Aadil Bedi of Chandigarh dropped to tied-8th after carding a 73 for a total of a 6-under 138. — TNS
