New Delhi, May 10
Five days after two-time Olympics medallist Sushil Kumar was named in an FIR regarding a murder case here, the champion wrestler remains “on the run” and a lookout notice has been issued against him.
The Delhi Police has issued a lookout notice against Sushil in connection with last week’s brawl at Chhatrasal Stadium that left a young wrestler dead.
A senior police officer said the notice was issued late on Sunday evening.
A wrestler — 23-year-old Sagar Kumar — died of his wounds after a late-night brawl at the Chhatrasal Stadium. The Delhi Police has detained a suspect in relation to the crime, in which two others were injured.
Police have already recorded the statements of the victims of the brawl. The clash allegedly took place over vacating a flat in the Model Town area, they said.
Earlier, a senior police official had said that Sushil was on the run and efforts were on to trace him, adding that raids were being conducted in the Delhi-NCR and neighbouring states.
The victims alleged that Sushil was present at the spot when the clash took place, the official said.
Sagar Kumar and two of his friends were brutally assaulted allegedly by some wrestlers inside the Chhatrasal Stadium last Tuesday.
According to the police, the brawl involved Kumar, Ajay, Prince Dalal, Sonu, Sagar, Amit and others. — PTI
