Hosts Rajasthan could add only one run to their overnight score as they were bundled out for 257 runs by Punjab on Day 2 of their Group A Ranji Trophy match. In reply, skipper Mandeep Singh’s knock of 122 and Gurkeerat Singh Mann’s 68 propelled Punjab to 290/6 in 84 overs, helping them get the first-innings lead. Shubman Gill scored only 12 runs. For the hosts, Shubham Sharma picked up 3/70.
Uttarakhand staring at defeat vs J&K
Dehradun: Hosts Uttarakhand are staring at defeat at the hands of Jammu and Kashmir after the end of Day 2 of their Group C Ranji Trophy match. Uttarakhand were bundled out for 84 runs in reply to Jammu and Kashmir’s 182 runs. In their second innings, J&K scored 304 all out in 65.4 overs. In their second innings, the hosts were 18/3 with R Shah (0) and Avneesh Sudha (1) at the crease, needing 385 runs to avoid defeat.
Saurashtra in command vs Himachal Pradesh
Dharamsala: Saurashtra require just 66 runs more with seven wickets in hand to win their Group B match against Himachal Pradesh at the HPCA Stadium.
Resuming their first innings on 93/7, Saurashtra were bowled out for 141, gaining a slender lead of 21 runs. In their second innings, Himachal Pradesh were bowled out for 182 in 38.3 overs with Ankush Bains (74) and Rishi Dhawan (53) hitting half-centuries. None of the top-4 passed 5 runs, and the team was reduced to 31/5. Bains and Dhawan took the score to 152 and then the hosts suffered another collapse. Jaydev Unadkat picked up six wickets.
Chasing 162 for victory, Saurashtra were 96/3 in 28 overs at stumps. Notably, Cheteshwar Pujara, who usually bats at No. 3, did not come out to bat on Day 2.
Haryana gain upper hand against Maharashtra
Rohtak: Hosts Haryana took control of their Group C encounter against Maharashtra, reducing their opponent to 88/4 after making 401 in the first innings on Day 2. Resuming at 279/3 on the back of tons by opener Shubham Rohilla and middle-order batsman Shivam Chauhan, Haryana added 122 runs as the Maharashtra bowlers picked up wickets at regular intervals. Rohilla moved from 105 to 142 but could not inspire his team to a bigger score. He was bowled by medium-pacer Anupam Sanklecha (4/82), who had the best figures for Maharashtra. Sumit Kumar (40) ensured that the home side went past 400.
