Fast bowler Matt Henry was today named as replacement for the injured left-arm pacer Neil Wagner in the New Zealand squad for the second Test against Pakistan, starting here on Sunday. Wagner was struck by a Shaheen Afridi yorker while batting on the second day of the first Test, sustaining undisplaced fractures in both the fourth and fifth toes of his right foot. Wagner’s recovery is expected to be approximately six weeks. Coach Gary Stead said Henry brings Test experience and local knowledge to the squad.

England squad clears Covid test, set to travel to Lanka

England’s Sri Lanka-bound cricket contingent has tested negative for Covid-19 and will be leaving for the island nation tomorrow for a two-match Test series, starting on January 14. On arrival, the contingent will spend 10 days in a bio-secure bubble in Hambantota. England are scheduled to play two Test matches against Sri Lanka in Galle on January 14-18 and January 22-26.
